19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with former trainer Cervara.
Currently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his maiden title after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.
The win also means he has secured 21 championships at 21 various competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.
The player's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.
But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour victory, took control to push for a final set.
Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
